Training the Trainer

For 2013 we are introducing group training courses for professionals who would like to increase their knowledge of the technology.

To help you make the most of the special software now available to support learning in school, we are holding 4 half-day courses spread over 2 days. The morning session will cover a range of solutions with the afternoon focusing on a single product. The courses are aimed at those recommending or supporting users of the technology.

Course Details

Introduction to Assistive Technology

Day 1 - a.m.

A chance to try out a range of programs aimed at supporting students with disabilities. This course will include an overview of Assistive Technology options and some group evaluation of the solutions including:

  • Text-to-speech proofreading tools
  • speech-to-text software
  • spell checkers
  • word predictors and mobile devices.

Supporting Read&Write Gold

Day 1 - p.m.

This is a demonstration led course with detailed instruction on how to use the software in the classroom. The software can benefit users of all ages and abilities. It includes literacy support and proofing tools, study skills tools and conversion tools.

Computer Readers and Scribe options

Day 2 - a.m.

This course looks at how technology can be used to read and scribe the students work. Various electronic options will be demonstrated with a variety of practical activates linked to the solutions.

Supporting Dragon Naturally Speaking

Day 2 - p.m.

Group “train the trainer” session for clients supporting new and existing users of Dragon Naturally Speaking. Dragon recognition accuracy is greatly improved when the correct techniques are used to maintain the voice profile. Basic commands, correction techniques and transcription will be demonstrated.
